I'm surprised, but if memory serves he either did some racing or was part-owner of a team.

Yes, he was a part owner in the Busch Series, and Craftsmen Truck series. He used to be on the competition committee as well I believe. He was a huge race fan growing up, and the reason he was 43 was because he was a Richard Petty fan.

I think he was a part owner, but he never was seen as a figure in the sport and as a fan I would rather see the spot filled by one of the many more recognizeable as being related to the sport.
